DESCRIPTION:Moments of Clarity with Matt Russ\nUnity Invites you for a night of art featuring a lecture from the artist himself and a catered reception. This event is free and open to the public. If you would like to join us virtually you can RSVP to receive a zoom link here. \nMatt celebrates Maine’s landscape in his paintings. He paints from life\, working outdoors and often backpacking into remote locations. His work can be found in private collections nationwide\, and in such institutions as Maine General Hospital\, Verrill Dana\, LLP\, and the Colby College Environmental Studies Department. He has also donated paintings to non-profit organizations\, including LifeFlight of Maine\, Maine Island Trail Association\, Maine Audubon Society\, Cape Elizabeth Land Trust\, Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment\, and Hurricane Island Center for Science & Leadership. If you would like to join us virtually you can RSVP to receive a zoom link here. \nEdwige Charlot is a French-born Haitian immigrant artist and designer. As a descendant of the home island of Ayiti\, Charlot uses nature-based motifs to grapple with Caribbean and Creole identities and culture. Charlot’s work has received support from the Rhode Island Council on the Arts\, the Andy Warhol Foundation through the Interlace Grant Fund\, the St. Botolph Club Foundation\, and the Maine Arts Commission. Recently\, Charlot was awarded the General 2023 Operating Support for Artists Grant by the Rhode Island Council on the Arts.
